Ineos Grenadier & Grenadier Quartermaster get updated for 2026

Ineos, a vehicle manufacturer founded a decade ago with the mission of providing the market with an SUV like the discontinued classical Land Rover Defender, has facelifted its lineup heading into the current model year. Improvements include handling, tech and trim options.

The original Grenadier was often criticized for numb and unresponsive steering, largely blamed on a rather archaic recirculating ball mechanism at its core. The facelift keeps the mechanism but introduces it to variable gear ratios, which should help with handling on asphalt – especially in corners. Aside from that, the turn radius has been reduced by 5%.

Things have barely changed in the trim department. HVAC should now be able to maintain your selected climate better than before, and the pestering ADAS sound notifications can now be disabled with one tap of a button on the main touchscreen. Those looking for a more premium experience may opt for a limited Black Edition, getting blackout exterior décor, matching 18-inch wheels, more thoroughly tinted glass at the rear end and a darker interior finish.

BMW engines continue to supply the power. The 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel still pumps out its usual 249 PS (246 hp / 183 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft), while the same-sized petrol engine stays at 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). The transmission is eight-speed automatic in both cases, and AWD is available as a free option.

Prices in the UK start from just under £52,000 for the standard Grenadier SUV and truck, £62,500 for the five-seat cabin, and £72,000 for the Black Edition.
