Jetour T2 rips off Land Rover Defender even more in latest special

Chery-owned car brand Jetour has founded JMK – a sub-brand of its own dedicated exclusively to limited editions of mass-market cars. Its first production vehicle is called Jetour T2 Silver Dragon Wing, CarNewsChina reports.

Even in its base version, the T2 is a blatant rip-off of the Land Rover Defender. The JMK take on it goes even further, adding a similar-looking box at the right side and a roof access ladder. It also brings along high-profile tires, 20-inch wheels, a modest-sized bull bar at the front end, brush guards, an expedition rack and taillight protectors.

Unfortunately for the off-road enthusiasts among us, the crossover-grade drivetrain stays unchanged. An electronic system on board chooses when to couple the rear wheels and how to distribute the torque. There are neither any diff locks nor reduction gear. The preselector DCT may be convenient for general driving, but it is a poor fit for serious off-roading.

Only 3,000 JMK Jetour T2 Silver Dragon Wing units will be produced and sold starting from 220,000 Yuan (U.S. $31,000). Later on, the newborn brand promises to introduce other specialized versions of the car for mountain climbers and rainforest explorers.
