If you wanted to buy a Kia Stinger, better grab one before the next spring: it looks like the model may soon drop out of production.
According to the latest report made by the company, its factory in Gwangmyeong, South Korea, will soon be upgraded to produce electrified cars, and especially the hybrid variant of the recently launched Carnival MPV.
Work on the production site will begin in early 2022, which means that the assembly lines producing the Stinger model may stop in spring. It doesn’t look like a permanent discontinuation: the car has only recently gone through a facelift on all markets and is being assembled in several countries.
Having said that, the writing seems to be on the wall for the Stinger, which only sold 13,861 units in the USA in 2019, and mere 12,556 last year. The downward trend will likely continue this year as well.
