Here’s a Lancia 037 that’s even rarer than most

This 40-year-old Lancia Rally 037 belongs to a series of approximately 200 homologation units and is on sale right now with the bidding at $204,000 and more than a week remaining.

The Lancia Rally 037 was the company’s last RWD rally car to bring it victory in the Constructors’ Cup.

This example has chassis number 029 and several owners on its record. In early 2010s, it was imported into the United States. The current owner and seller only bought it last year. Aside from several restorations, it underwent some tuning as well that included an engine swap and chassis modifications.

The old 2.0-liter supercharged engine was removed and a 2.1-liter Fiat-Abarth four-cylinder mill was put in its place along with dry sump, electronic ignition, a custom turbocharger, and redesigned injection. The swap was performed 24 years ago, when the car was still in the UK.

It is alleged that the owner of the car back at the time tried to tune it to be as close to the 1984 Evo 2 model as possible. Like the Evo 2, this Lancia 037 produces around 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW).

The odometer shows around 39,000 kilometers (24,233 miles) of use.
