Diesel-driven Defender 90 quintuples its performance thanks to Fusion

Californian tuner Fusion Luxury Motors has succeeded in cutting the old 122hp (91kW) diesel engine out of a 1991 Land Rover Defender 90 and squeezing a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 into its place.

The new engine, which shows up to 564 hp (421 kW) at the crank, necessitated upgrading everything ranging from the intercooler to the fuel tank and pump, as well as designing a custom exhaust system with an X-shaped downpipe and sidepipes. A six-speed automatic transmission was charged with delivering the power to all four wheels.

Further notable aftermarket additions included Fox 2.0 shocks, 18-inch off-road wheels with beadlock protection and Toyo Open Country rubber, and underchassis protection at both ends. The fenders and radiator grille were notably replaced with expensive carbon-fiber counterparts.

In the cabin, the Land Rover Defender 90 by Fusion Luxury Motors houses four ergonomic sport seats (Recaro Sportster CS in the front row), a high-end audio system, a modern infotainment system with Apple Car Play support, a leather-clad steering wheel measuring 360mm (14”) across, and numerous carbon-fiber embellishments.
