Leapmotor has launched its full-size D19 crossover on the domestic market, offering it in as many as five modifications including hybrid and all-electric. Prices start from 219,800 CNY and reach 269,800 CNY in the top spec (U.S. $32,240–39,570).
The SUV is slightly over 5.2 meters (205 inches) long and relies on a 1.5-liter petrol engine alongside two e-motors in its most basic spec. This version produces 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and has up to 500 km (310 miles) of range on a full charge. If the battery is still too expensive for you, a smaller pack is available with 400 km (248 miles) per charge.
The middle-ground spec comes with a dual-motor setup capable of 557 PS (549 hp / 410 kW) and 620 km (385 miles). Paying extra gets you a bigger traction battery rated at 720 km (447 miles).
Last but not least, the range-topping Leapmotor D19 takes advantage of a tri-motor powertrain pushing out 734 PS (724 hp / 540 kW). This version sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under four seconds and still gets 680 km (422 miles) per charge, according to the Chinese domestic range standard.
The interior of the SUV can be optioned with six or seven seats. Trim options include air-ride suspension, adaptive shocks, a 17.3-inch infotainment system display, a 23-speaker audio system and an extra TV for the rear seat occupants.
Considering Leapmotor’s ongoing cooperation deal with Stellantis, we suppose the D19 could sprout an export version somewhere down the line. The company still hasn’t revealed if it plans to offer the model outside of China, though.
