Lexus Sport Concept makes a quiet Monterey appearance

Without so much as a single announcement, Lexus has brought a supercar to the Monterey Car Week. It was exhibited as a pure design study and had no technical specifications, so we suppose the company simply wanted to tell us where its design language is headed for the near future.

The Sport Concept is a fairly classically proportioned coupe – low roof, long hood, muscular-looking fenders and big wheels are all present. In a refreshing turn of events, the automaker decided against using humongous air intakes that everyone seems to be obsessed about these days – they look normal-sized here.

A look at the rear end reveals an adjustable wing and a diffuser with a brake light in the middle, like on Formula One race cars. A single taillight spans the entire width of the bumper, punctuated only by illuminated “LEXUS” lettering.

Nothing has been revealed about the underpinning platform or tech. We suppose the missing exhaust pipes are a clear indication that it’s an EV, though. The interior also wasn’t shown at all. In all likelihood, the Sport Concept will forever remain just that – a design preview. That said, we cannot rule out a next-generation LC or even LFA based on it.
