The Japanese automaker has confirmed the development of a new generation of internal combustion engines, dubbed Skyactiv-Z.
The first entry in the lineup is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 2.5 liters of displacement. It is being designed as innate part of a hybrid powertrain and is targeting full Euro 7 compliance.
The third-generation Mazda CX-5 slated to arrive around 2027 will be the first production vehicle to make use of this engine.
