Manhart waves the V8 era goodbye with CR700 Last Edition

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class will no longer come equipped with the temperamental V8, meaning that Manhart will also have to wrap up its CR700 production based on the C 63 AMG. And it will – but not before one final goodbye.

It would be odd to call the stock Mercedes-AMG C 63 S underpowered with its 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Still, for those who can appreciate the difference, the Manhart boost kit adds 200 horsepower and 220 Newton-meters to these numbers thanks to improved turbos, intercooler, carbon-fiber intake and tweaked ECU. The transmission gets its own share of mods to better cope with the load.

The exhaust system upgrade can go two ways: Sport improves sound and performance while preserving the catalytic converters, while Race goes all-out for power at the expense of being cat-free. Neither is certified for road use in Germany, but you can try legalizing the Sport version abroad. Dynamic-wise, the car sprints 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) in 5.5 seconds, nearly 3 secs faster than stock.

In addition to the above, the Last Edition gets variable suspension height, Manhart Concave One rims sized 20”, and a wide assortment of exterior paint options (the iconic black and gold shown here is but one of the opportunities). The same applies to the interior, which will be customized as the buyers see fit.
