A custom G-Class from the ‘50s inspired this bizarre AMG G 63

Dubai-based tuning company MetaGarage has unveiled a wild styling package for the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG. Known as the M Monogram G 3.0 “Iconic”, it somehow succeeds in making the iconic SUV borderline unrecognizable.

The first thing that catches the eye – or, rather, slams into it head-on – is the retro-inspired radiator grille. The company claims it drew inspiration from a one-off Mercedes 300 C built by a German tuning firm Binz for a U.S. customer back in the 1950s. At the same time, we cannot help but see the parallels with the Vision Iconic design study that Mercedes showed us last year.

The new grille is accompanied by tri-point star DRLs shaped like those of Mercedes’ latest cars, a futuristic front bumper, oversized fenders and side sills, and a rear diffuser. The hood flaunts an M Monogram badge looking suspiciously like the Maybach logo.

It’s anybody’s guess what the interior and the powertrain of this G-Class look like, because MetaGarage apparently personalizes each order. The tuner’s plan involves making 50 such SUVs priced from a cool 700,000 USD.
