Video: John Cena takes delivery of a gorgeous 600-HP restomod

John Cena, U.S.-based pro wrestler and actor, has dreamt about owning a 1969 MCG GT, so when he ordered one restored and modernized for him, the car blew his mind.

The grand tourer looks and feels different both on the outside and the inside. It is quite suitable for daily driving, but will let the owner indulge in some track day activity, too. The exterior looks stock until you notice the flared fenders and wider overall body.

Things get more interesting in the suspension department, where the outdated torsion beam makes room for a Ford Mustang II setup at the front axle and a four-link configuration in the back. Coil-overs are used at all four corners instead of regular springs to enable ride height adjustment.

A true gem of the build comes in the form a 6.2-liter Chevrolet V8 under the hood, which links to a six-speed manual transmission and drives it with 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). This is plenty of power for any vehicle and even more so for a classic tipping the scales at just 950 kilograms (2,095 pounds).

Rounding off the project is an impressive cabin makeover in light blue leather with orange piping. The inside space feels distinctly more modern than the exterior and offers enough legroom even for Cena, whose height and girth preclude him from driving compacts.

Cena’s next plan is to commission a replica of the legendary Bugatti Type 57C from the same aftermarket company.
