Mullen rolls out a 1,000-HP of its Five SUV

U.S.-based niche carmaker Mullen announced a crossover SUV called Five back in 2021. This week, the still-to-be-released electric vehicle received a flagship version called RS.

The new Mullen Five RS packs two electric motors hitting its axles with a combined 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW). It can allegedly sprint 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) in less than two seconds. The production is scheduled for mid-2026.

Like the Porsche Taycan, the car has a dual-range reduction gear installed that helps it leverage its 1,150 Nm (850 lb-ft) of torque properly. The manufacturer-claimed top speed exceeds 320 km/h (199 mph), making it faster than the Ferrari Purosangue. Mullen also claims that a well-appointed aerodynamic kit helps the Five RS stay stable and handle well at higher accelerations. Fine-tuned shock absorbers and steering contribute to this, too.

A 100-kWh battery pack on board gives the Five RS 483 km (300 miles) of range. Its 800-volt power architecture lets drivers replenish 80% of the charge in roughly 20 minutes. Six-piston, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes should ensure adequate deceleration for the bulky EV, resulting in a 100-0 km/h (62-0 mph) brake path of just 108 feet, or 33 meters. The wheels are sized 20 inches large at the front and 21 inches at the rear.

The base trim level includes carbon-backed sport seats wrapped in leather and Alcantara, a modern infotainment system and a Level 2+ driver assistance suite.
