NIO expands its presence in Europe

Chinese automaker has made a Twitter announcement confirming that a press conference will take place in Oslo, Norway on May 6, dedicated to the expansion of the brand in the Northern European country that loves EVs.

NIO isn’t new to Europe per se, with a design HQ in Munich, Germany and a research & innovation center in Oxford, Great Britain. However, the first showroom will likely open in Oslo. The company says it will be headed by Marius Hayler, ex-Jaguar Land Rover CEO in Norway and acting CEO of NIO Norway.

The marque’s flagship car right now is the ES8, a battery SUV with 643 PS (634 hp / 473 kW) and 840 Nm (620 lb-ft) of torque. You can see it in the gallery and the video here. The electric lineup also includes the ES6 SUV and the EC6 Coupe. It remains to be announced which one will reach Europe first.
