Nissan Tekton: first photos

Nissan has unveiled its next crossover SUV: the Tekton. Officially inspired by the larger Patrol, it is targeted towards India but will later ship worldwide. The full reveal will likely take place next year, so let’s take a look in the meantime.

Based on the six images revealed thus far, the crossover cuts a rather aggressive profile with a bulky front end, a raised hood and U-shaped interlinked DRLs. The rear end is similarly sporty with its flared wheel arches, spoiler and taillights. Overall, it is easy to see the Patrol inspiration in the design.

For the interior, Nissan promises us something “premium” without revealing any details. The same goes for the powertrain. Saurabh Vatsa, the MD of Nissan Motor India, claims that the Tekton was designed from the ground up to boost the marque’s sales in the country with its brisk manner on the road and the sheer manufacturing quality.

On a side note, “Tekton” is Greek for “artisan” or “architect”. All production will be handled by Renault in Chennai, India. The main technical specifications and the list of markets where the CUV will be offered should follow in a couple of weeks or months, the company said.
