Rare Nissan R34 GT-R by Tommykaira heads to auction

Renowned Japanese tuning company Tommykaira has churned out countless custom Nissan GT-Rs throughout the years, but its “R-Z” model based on the high-end R34 GT-R V-Spec was reportedly capped at “a few dozen” units. One of these will cross the auction block in Japan in January 2026, poised to fetch around $650,000 in North American money.

On the outside, the car looks tastefully styled with revised air intakes, a low-slung radiator grille and a splitter. The sides rock skirts and fender flares, and the rear end is dominated by a dual-bladed rear wing on aluminum supports. Despite the added sporty aggression, this Godzilla still stays faithful to its original style and avoids looking over-the-top like many of its JDM compatriots.

Quite a lot work went into the engine, too. The legendary RB26DETT twin-turbo six-pot went up from its OEM-rated 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) all the way to 537 PS (530 hp / 390 kW). The listing mentions a new crankshaft, larger turbos and 2.7 liters of displacement under the main modifications.

To help deliver that kind of power safely to the ground, the car makes use of AP Racing six-piston brake calipers, Bilstein shocks and 19-inch magnesium wheels finished in gold.

Making this Tommykaira R-Z especially desirable is its low mileage. The odometer shows only 20,191 km (12,546 miles) total, including around 2,000 km (1,242 mi) of post-tuning mileage spread over the past 15 years.
