Polestar and Mattel have declared the winner of their car design competition. The participants were asked to dream about a “Polestar vehicle from the future” and depict it as a Hot Wheels toy car. The winner’s submission will go on sale in the summer of 2025.
You can see it right here, and it’s called “Polestar TRX”. Designed by Shashank Shekhar from India, it is a sporty-looking truck with plenty of ground clearance, a tapered body and a spacious bed with two surfboards inside.
Ranking second is a project called Cyber Shaker by Powei Chen. It’s a supercar with a protruded nose and a fairly original front fascia. Rounding off the top three is Roman Moor with what looks closest to a classic racecar. You can find both projects in the brief video here, but they are both runners-up and won’t go into production.
Over 1,200 car aficionados took part in the competition. Polestar pointed out that publicity wasn’t the only goal – finding fresh design ideas was just as important.
