Porsche Carrera GT gets treated to an all-around tuning package

Canepa, a Californian car shop owned by retired IMSA GT driver Bruce Canepa who won third place at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1979, has released an extensive upgrade package for the Porsche Carrera GT. Exterior, chassis and powertrain are all affected.

On the outside, you can recognize the Carrera GT SC (Sport Canepa) by its Liquid Metal Green paintjob complemented with five-spoke magnesium wheels and corrugated exhaust tips. The interior trim is all-new and involves lots of natural leather along with some artificial suede and aluminum accents. A carbon-fiber roll bar behind the seats is also an aftermarket addition.

Power for the wheels is still provided by a 5.7-liter, naturally aspirated V10. If it outputs any more than its standard 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 590 Nm (440 lb-ft) of torque thanks to a high-flow exhaust system, then we aren’t aware of it.

Having said that, the GT SC should still be a perfectly fine driver’s car thanks to numerous other technical tweaks and improvements. For one, it has a modern clutch mechanism that’s both simpler and more robust than the original. It also rides on KW Suspension components and has a hydraulic lift at the front axle for those pesky speed bumps.

Back in the mid-2000s, Porsche only released 1,270 examples of the Carrera GT. Some of the better-kept examples tend to change hands at $3–4 million USD these days.
