Porsche has nearly wrapped up its 2025 Taycan facelift tests and is getting ready to unveil the car. The company calls it a mid-generational refresh, but points out that there are so many changes and improvements that it had to run full-scale pre-production tests – you’d expect a new generation to require as much, but not a mere facelift.
The new Taycan EV will arrive in spring in three main trim levels to choose from. In the meantime, test vehicles have covered around 3.6 million kilometers (2.23 million miles) worldwide, driven on racetracks, special testing grounds and all kinds of roads. They have also withstood temperatures ranging from +53 to –41 degrees Celsius (+127…–42 ºF).
The chassis and battery have been tested amidst snow and ice of the Scandinavian territories beyond the Arctic Circle. As a result, Porsche has managed to double the charging rate of the car in cold conditions. In the sweltering California, USA, thermal regulation of the battery has been put to the test.
According to the German carmaker, the new Taycan will surpass the original in all respects including driving dynamics and range. Like its predecessor, it will be released in two flavors: Sport Turismo (sedan) and Cross Turismo (estate/wagon).
