Range Rover & Range Rover Sport recalled over suspension issues

JLR is holding a large-scale recall campaign in the United States right now due a potentially dangerous defect. 121,509 vehicles sold from 2014 to 2017 may sprout cracks in their front suspension joints.

In June 2025 alone, the NHTSA had registered 12 complaints from Jaguar–Land Rover SUV owners who had their suspension disintegrate under unclear circumstances. An investigation that followed revealed that at least 96 Range Rover and 14 Range Rover Sport owners had the same issue.

JLR responded by claiming it was unaware of any incidents potentially linked to this alleged suspension defect. For its own part, the NHTSA was also unable to find any relevant incident records so far.

Starting this Tuesday, August 19, all authorized JLR dealerships are running checks on all affected vehicles to see whether there are any fissures in the front suspension steering knuckle. If there are, this part can break leading to an immediate loss of steering. Owners can choose either to replace the problematic part completely or to add a fixing bracket to remove the excess strain from the steering knuckle. All expenses associated with the repair are borne by the manufacturer.
