Renault has taken the wraps off Rafale, its latest coupe-like crossover SUV styled in line with the automaker’s latest design trends.
The front grille and the LED Matrix headlights look particularly fresh in this version. The company puts a particular emphasis on advertising the top trim level called ‘Esprit Alpine’, which is also available for the Espace MPV. Like the Espace, the Rafale has a wheelbase spanning exactly 2,740 mm (107 inches).
Inside, the main highlights are a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-inch, portrait-oriented infotainment display turned slightly towards the driver. The multimedia system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connections. You can grab a HUD as a paid option.
Due to its sloped roof, the Rafale cannot truly compare with the more traditional SUV designs in terms of trunk space. Even so, with the rear seats up, it still offers a solid 530 liters (18.7 cubic feet) of luggage space.
Powering the ride is a turbocharged three-cylinder engine assisted by a couple of electric motors. The base spec that is already available offers 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW), but you can wait several months if you want a superior version with 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW).
