Skoda’s new voice assistant recognizes six languages complete with dialects

Skoda has arranged an official presentation dedicated to Laura, its voice assistant that can help you find your way around, turn on your favorite music or read a text message aloud.

The Czech carmaker says it is continuously working on expanding the capabilities of its digital assistant. So far, Laura knows six languages (Czech, English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian) and recognizes their dialect versions. You need to say ‘OK, Laura’ to initiate a conversation.

The feature is currently available in test mode for the Scala and the Kamiq. It relies on a virtual SIM card for Internet access, which is used in many scenarios, such as when you need to find a definition for an unknown word.

In the future, Laura will learn to operate many car functions and improve speech patterns thanks to the AI learning.
