Geely updates its largest SUV 1.5 years after launch

The Geely Haoyue (known in some markets as the Okayango), the Chinese marque’s largest crossover SUV on offer, has received a facelift heading into 2022. The exterior and cabin have both been revised, despite the fact that the original only debuted last spring.

Geely has re-styled the seven-seater in line with its latest design direction, giving it a new chrome-framed grille with vertical bars instead of concentric lines, a bumper with different anti-fog lamp recesses, and a new black badge. The headlight insides have also been changed.

The overall outlines stay the same, but the rear bumper with exhaust tips is new. Inside, the digital dashboard and the 12.3-inch infotainment display remain unchanged, but the gear selector has been reworked, and there are new trim options in the catalog now. The photos depict a tri-color cabin, for instance.

When Geely unveiled the Haoyue/Okayango last March, it said it would ship with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine rated at 177 PS (175 hp / 132 kW) and a 1.8-liter one good for 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). The former engine is not mentioned at all in the facelift announcement, while the latter now comes bundles with a 7-speed DCT and FWD (no AWD available).

Sales will start later this year. Prices are pending.
