Honda spruces up its S660 mid-engine roadster series

The original Honda S660 came out in 2015, so seeing its facelift version at the Tokyo salon was good news for many Japanese visitors.

That said, the Kei car hasn’t changed very much in its 2020 spec. The radiator grille, the headlights and the wheels have been slightly retouched, and two new paints (Alabaster Silver Metallic and Active Green Pearl) have been made available. Finally, the a-pillars have been painted to match the main body color (the pre-facelift version had black a-pillars).

Inside, the steering wheel and the gear selector now boast Alcantara trim, and you can opt for heated seats.

In turn, the high-end S660 Modulo X gained new wheels, a vivid orange paintjob with black mirror caps for contrast, and a new cabin trim.

The technical side of things stays unchanged. The model still conforms to the Japanese Kei car standards, which basically means it comes powered by a low-end three-cylinder turbo mill rated at just 64 hp (48 kW). The engine sits straight behind the seats and links to any of the two available transmissions: manual or CVT. The latter is available with a paddle shifter.

Sales of the Honda S660 in Japan will begin on January 31, 2020. The roadster will likely never be available outside of its domestic region.
