Report: Configurator leaks the new Skoda Octavia

Skoda only released the first design sketches of its upcoming Octavia liftback a few days ago – but it seems like we now have a more realistic image to look at.

The author of the screenshot claims he made it in the car configurator module on the Skoda official website. We cannot confirm this right now, since the German version of the configurator app does not have the liftback in the list. Then again, maybe the car was mistakenly made visible when it was added to the database and then quickly hidden.

Based on the pic, the new Octavia will get Scala-like headlights, as well as some stylistic cues that will make it closer to the larger Skoda Superb, such as the front bumper and some other trim parts. Overall, this is nothing unexpected.

Compared to the sketches, the rendering moves the anti-fog lights to a different position – maybe this depends on the chosen trim level. The wheels are probably 18 inches across. The rest remains to be seen, though, as the image quality is pretty low.

We expect the 2020 Skoda Octavia to get restyled brake lights and a large ‘Skoda’ lattering on the tailgate instead of the logo. Inside, novelties will include a digital dash, an advanced multimedia system, a dual-spoke steering wheel, and an electromechanical handbrake.

The fourth generation of the Octavia will debut in Prague, Czech Republic on November 11, 2019. In turn, the technically related Volkswagen Golf Mk8 will launch in a few days with the same or similar assortment of engines as the new Octavia.
