The Shangjie H5 is Huawei’s cheapest SUV so far

Huawei and SAIC have announced the pricing for their co-designed H5 crossover slated to go on sale in China soon. Priced between 169,800 and 209,800 Yuan, it is going to be the IT giant’s most affordable vehicle despite a choice between a hybrid and an all-electric powertrain.

The CUV is sized 4,780 x 1,910 x 1,664 mm (186.7 x 74.6 x 65 inches) and has 2,840 mm (111 inches) between the axles. It rides on 20-inch wheels and offers up to 1,837 liters (64.87 cubic feet) of trunk space with the seats folded. The EV version has a 124-liter (4.34-cu.ft.) trunk at the front as well. Customers are choosing from six exterior finishes and may opt for a black-out trim package called Obsidian.

Starting with the hybrid, it combines a 109-PS (107-hp / 80-kW) petrol engine with a single 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor to drive the rear wheels. Once topped up, it can cover 1,360 kilometers (845 miles) per the Chinese national standard. Going full-electric drains the battery in 235 km (146 miles).

In turn, the EV can be optioned either with the 204-PS motor mentioned above or a superior 245-PS (242-hp / 180-kW) alternative. The company quotes four range figures ranging from 525 to 655 km (326–407 miles) depending on your spec.

Options include seven airbags, an infotainment system based on two screens 10.25 and 15.6 inches large, a panoramic roof and heated/ventilated front seats with three intensity settings for both features. The infotainment system runs on Huawei software that supports seamless wireless integration and can use the interior camera to auto-apply the preferences of the people on board.
