Drag Race: Toyota GR Yaris vs. A80 Supra vs. Celica GT-Four

Today’s CarWOW video might seem a bit odd even by that team’s already liberal standards, as it pits a modern hot hatch up against an elderly rally car and a Japanese sports icon. Even so, rest assured that things will get interesting.

As different as the trio appears to be from each other, there is actually plenty in common among them. The GR Yaris makes do with three cylinders and 1.6 liters of displacement, but it benefits from a powerful turbo setup rated at 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) and an AWD system connected through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Powering the A80 Supra is its trademark turbo six-banger worth 325 PS (321 hp / 239 kW). A four-speed A/T hits the rear wheels. Last but not least, the Celica GT-Four uses a two-liter four-pot turbo good for 255 PS (251 hp / 188 kW). It has front-wheel drive and manual transmission.
