Drag Race: Toyota Mk5 Supra vs. Dodge Challenger Hellcat

There is precious little in common between the latest Toyota Supra and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The transmission is eight-speed automatic for both and… that would be it, actually. The Toyota looks like a clear underdog of this drag race, but what if it has an ace up its metaphorical sleeve?

Let’s recap. The Challenger uses a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 dialed up to 717PS (707 hp / 527 kW) thanks to a supercharger. Supra’s 3.0-liter inline-six turbo normally produces only 387 PS (382 hp / 285 kW), which puts it at a disadvantage as big as 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW).

The twist is, this particular car’s powertrain was tuned to 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW). While still not on par in terms of power, the duo is now much more evenly matched – especially if you remember that the Supra weighs much less.

Watch the video and find out who gets to stare at the other’s taillights.
