549 hp at the wheel: This could be the world’s most powerful GR Yaris

Given that the Toyota GR Yaris already pumps out 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) from its 1.6-liter three-pot to all four wheels, one might think it was already turbocharged to its limits. However, it can apparently go much higher than that, as this insane video seems to prove.

Posted by EKanoo Racing on YouTube, the short vid shows a heavily tuned GR Yaris sitting on a dyno stand and revving up to the sky-high 7,300 RPM. As it does so, it hits 549 PS (541 hp / 404 kW) at the wheels. The torque climbs to a spectacular 673 Nm (496 lb-ft), a massive improvement over the stock 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. As if it weren’t crazy enough, all measurements were performed after transmission losses, meaning that all number would have been even higher if measured straight at the crank.

The Bahrain-based tuning shop hasn’t shared many details about the tuning parts involved, but said that there was still ‘much room for improvement.’ To be frank, we are excited and only slightly terrified to see what comes next!
