Volkswagen ID. Unyx 08 gets a price tag in China

Volkswagen’s large all-electric SUV known as the ID. Unyx 08, co-designed with Xpeng for the Chinese domestic market, is now available for ordering. Full prices range from 240,000 to 300,000 Yuan (U.S. $34,725–43,400).

Starting with the exterior, the newcomer barely looks like a Volkswagen, instead sporting a typical Chinese body and kit. Same applies to the interior dominated by a pair of 15-inch dash displays. The whole car is 5 meters (195.3 inches) long, 1,954 mm (76.3 inches) wide and 1,672 mm (65.3 inches) tall with 3,030 mm (118.4 inches) between the axles. The minimum trunk size is unspecified, but you get 1,845 liters (65.16 cubic feet) with all applicable seats folded.

In its most basic form, the EV relies on a single rear-mounted motor to drive the wheels with 313 PS (309 hp / 230 kW). Paying extra adds a 190-PS (187-hp / 140-kW) motor to the front axle, reducing the sprint time to 4.9 seconds. There are two batteries to choose from, but no range specifics yet. The company claims that charging from 10 to 80 percent only takes 20 minutes or so, as long as you can find a 315-kW charger.

Feature-wise, the ID. Unyx 08 comes with intelligent air suspension scanning the road ahead for quick auto-adjustments, latest-gen matrix LEDs, massaged/ventilated seats, and a dimmable panoramic roof.
