Xpeng gets ready to unveil a large electric MPV pioneering its new X lineup

Chinese automaker Xpeng has posted a few camouflaged images of its upcoming electric minivan called the X9 and also uploaded some camo-free photos to the Ministry of Industry database. The sales will not begin until closer to the end of the year, but we already have some specs.

The patent application says the vehicle is 5,293 mm long, 1,988 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall with 3,160 mm of wheelbase. It is comparable with the Voyah Dream in size and has three seat rows with a choice between six and seven seats. The domestic market will get it purely as an EV with two powertrain options to choose from.

The base spec has been patented with a single front axle motor making 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW). The top spec adds another motor to the rear axle for a combined 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW). Rumor has it a single charge will last up to 800 kilometers (nearly 500 miles), but it remains to be confirmed.

On the outside, the X9 looks more like a typical Chinese crossover SUV than a minivan. It sports multi-tier headlights with slim upper sections, a dynamic silhouette with a slanting roof and stamped, angular-looking side panels.
