640k sales before year-end: Zeekr shares export plans

Chinese electrified vehicle manufacturer Zeekr plans to launch global variants of its SUVs 8X and 9X in June. Middle Eastern countries should get the latter model next month, with the 8X set to follow later and EU sales queued for Q4 2026.

The corresponding statement was made by Geely Automobile Group CEO Gan Jiayue in a recent interview with CarNewsChina. He didn’t rule out the possibility of exports to other regions aside from Central Asia, Middle East and Europe. In particular, he said the company was considering Australia among the promising destinations for EV and hybrid exports.

Zeekr’s plans for the remainder of the year are quite ambitious. The company’s strategy envisions selling as many as 640,000 vehicles outside of China in 2026.

All prices remain to be announced. The range-topping Zeekr 9X hybrid rated at 898 PS (886 hp / 660 kW) starts from 530,000 Yuan in China, which roughly converts into U.S. $77,600. Its slightly smaller cousin, the 8X, starts from 357,000 Yuan ($52,300), but quickly goes up to 427,000 Yuan ($62,500) with all options ticked. Chinese EVs and hybrids destined for the export markets tend to balloon in cost, though, so it’s going to be interesting seeing how expensive the global 8X and 9X models end up once they go on sale.
