The Astrovan Airstream you see on the titular picture has been bringing astronauts to the launch pad for many years, and with NASA resuming its Moon and Mars exploration, it now wants a next-gen bus to transport people in.
The agency will be collecting offers from car manufacturers until Friday, October 22, 2021. Both new models and classic ones will be considered, including even a refurbished variant of the same Astrovan Airstream.
The requirements are simple: room for eight passengers, including four in space suits. Modern technology on board is welcome, because NASA plans on using the shuttle bus for other things as well, not just for the occasional launch pad trip.
