Bespoke 1991 Acura NSX NA1 goes up on sale

The most valuable retro cars are often those that never underwent any kind of full-scale overhaul or tuning. Furthermore, while well-executed maintenance may be welcome, messing with the model’s original design philosophy hardly ever is. In spite of the above, this 1991 Acura NSX NA1 may still fetch quite a bit at the auction.

The body kit depicted here is one of only two copies produced by BSM when that company still existed. The second one is rumored to reside in private hands somewhere in Tokyo, Japan. There is a brand-new, aerodynamically-shaped front fascia, stylish deep-seated Marga Hills headlights, larger wheel arches, side skirts and door panels, and a redesigned rear end with a huge wing.

While the body kit may evoke associations with the 1990s, the Enkei RPF1 alloy rims look fresh and modern by contrast. The suspension here is Zeal FX, the brakes are provided by Endless (6 pistons at the front, 4 at the rear), and the sports exhaust system stems from CT Engineering.

The previous owner of the 1991 Acura NSX NA1 didn’t resist the temptation to boost its engine, either. In its stock form, the 3.0-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine delivered 274 hp (204 kW). Fitted with a supercharger and a better air intake system, it now outputs up to 352 hp (262  kW) at the crank – more than enough for a retro sports car weighing just 1,400 kilos (3,085 lbs).
