Say hello to the Freedom Kingdom Vala, a weird-looking but affordable camper

Chinese automaker BAW has turned its Ace M7 electric minivan into a camping vehicle with what the local Internet users have already proclaimed the weirdest exterior design in months, reports CarNewsChina.

The original BAW Ace M7 (photos 4–10 and the video below) is being produced as a passenger minivan with five, seven or nine seats to choose from. A light commercial van is also available. When it debuted in 2022, it did so with a selection of traditional ICE engines, but the company added an electric powertrain to the list later on. The camper variant is strictly electric.

The interior houses everything necessary for comfortable accommodation of four people – or so we are told. But the most intriguing thing is that the standard Ace M7 has a very different and arguably normal-looking front fascia instead of this “pig snout” (quoting reviews). Apparently, BAW had aimed for a certain “retro” look with the camper version, but somehow ended up with this.

Anyway, the car is sized 5,240 x 1,900 x 2,075 mm with 3,200 mm between the axles. It uses a single electric motor to drive the rear axle with 122 PS (120 hp / 90 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). The CATL-branded battery pack size is 50.3 kilowatt-hours, but the range is not specified for the camper. The regular van does 320 km (199 miles) on a charge, but we expect this one to be somewhat heavier.
