VW Group considers handing Bentley over to Audi

Volkswagen will be revealing a major restructuring plan on November 5, 2020, which will concern multiple of its subordinate brands. Among other things, there are reports about Rimac Automobili getting control over Bugatti, Audi over Bentley, and Lamborghini going public.

It is common knowledge nowadays that VW Group mainly innovates through its Audi brand, and the company may gain even more weight and value if it were to assume control over the R&R and financial activities of Bentley Motors Ltd.

The British automaker shouldn’t lose much in this turn of events, either: the next-gen Continental GT and Flying Spur may benefit from a switch to the all-electric PPE architecture co-designed by Audi and Porsche (see video). If the restructuring is confirmed, this would probably end up in the Flying Spur being technically similar to the Audi A9 e-tron (shown in the gallery here).
