Check out this unique BMW M7 wannabe with stick shift, S62 V8

However baffling it is, BMW never gave us a true M7 flagship. Sure, some 7 Series special editions came close, but hardly close enough. This custom-built ride, which is up for sale in the USA, makes you wonder why it never was a production model.

The 20-year-old 740i Sport sedan packs a mighty 4.9-liter S62 V8 under the hood that it reportedly inherited from a crashed E39 M5. Upgraded with a Dinan chip tune and exhaust system, it drives the wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

Continuing the list are an M package with its typical wheels and interior upgrades, lowered suspension, Bilstein shocks, an M5 steering column, and an M5 dashboard. Combined with a rare Imola Red exterior, these add-ons make it a truly desirable car – at least, on paper.

The seller openly warns about a number of issues, including high mileage (206,100 miles / 331, 686 kilometers), oil leaks, rusty doors, a malfunctioning sunroof, and assorted trim defects. Even so, by the time of writing the car has managed to attract a highest bid of U.S. $18,000.
