Evolve Automotive almost makes the BMW M5 go 200 mph… almost

Half a year ago, we reported on a BMW M5 (F90) customized at the British auto shop Evolve Automotive. Back then, the Bavarian executive car was given a set of 6Sixty Crypto wheels and a slight ECU tune. However, the owner later commissioned another upgrade.

The goal was to make the sedan accelerate to 200 mph (322 km/h). To that end, the tuner installed a new cold air intake system made of carbon fiber, a Supersprint exhaust system, Eibach springs, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. RKP spoilers were installed both front and rear, and a custom carbon diffuser was added at the rear end. Finally, the ECU was once again reworked in a much more extensive fashion.

In the end, the performance of the BMW M5 (F90) ascended to 743 hp (554 kW) and 950 Nm (700 pound-feet) of torque. Is it enough to hit 200 mph?

Almost, apparently. During the test run, a precise GPS meter recorded max. 199.5 mph (321 km/h), which fell just 0.5 mph or 1 km/h short of the desired result. Note that, while the odometer showed something north of 330 km/h (205 mph), it was disregarded as unreliable (manufacturers often deliberately make these err upwards).
