Watch a BMW M5 Competition nearly take off the autobahn

AutoTopNL has posted a peak acceleration test of a BMW M5 Competition. The overpowered sedan tries to hit its factory-rated top speed on an unrestricted portion of a speedway in Germany.

In case you forgot, the latest M5 Comp packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and churns out 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW), as well as 553 Nm (408 lb-ft) of torque. It needs 3.1 seconds to go from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) and is supposed to be able to hit 305 km/h (190 mph) given an unobstructed lane.

In the video, the driver does multiple pulls to 275 km/h (171 mph) and even manages to hit 309 km/h (192 mph) on one occasion – more than BMW itself promised. Every run begins with a muffled feral roar of a V8, so we highly recommend watching it yourself.
