Chery teases a G-Class rival

Su Jun, the CEO of Chery’s iCar sub-brand, has shared the first official photo of an upcoming flagship SUV known as the V27. He also remarked that the model was being called “China’s G-Class” and “electrified Land Cruiser” on the social media.

The launch won’t happen until the final quarter of the year, so let’s take a closer look at the pic. The V27 is a fairly large and boxy crossover SUV, and that’s about as much as you can tell from this angle. However, if you swipe further down the gallery, you will see more photos of it made by spy photographers. These reveal a massive front bumper, round headlights, multi-section taillights and a luggage box on the tailgate, among other things.

Rumor has it the iCar V27 will reach the market powered by a serial hybrid drivetrain. It will allegedly offer around 200 km (124 miles) of all-electric range, easily extendable by a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine on board. For the pricing, sources suggest between 200,000 and 250,000 Yuan (U.S. $27,770–34,710).
