1970 Chevrolet Chevelle conceals a racing-ready V8 under the hood

The famous Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 came out barely over half a century ago and packed an LS6 powertrain rated at 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW). The car is still pretty agile even by modern standards, but this swapped example leaves it in a cloud of dust.

The owner traded the stock engine for a Nelson Racing twin-turbo mill with 8.4 liters of displacement, which barely fit under the hood. On the upside, the output skyrocketed to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). A Magnaflow exhaust system lends it its rich soundtrack, while all-new suspension helps keep things in control at higher accelerations.

Other noteworthy elements include a stylish black-and-white body, 22-inch wheels clad in wide low-profile tires, a quick-release hood, and a stripped interior held true to the original.

Watch the video for a good overview of the project.
