Chevrolet Corvette production halted over supply issues

As of August 29, 2022, Chevrolet is no longer producing any new Corvettes in North America and Mexico, Automotive News reports, blaming supply shortages for the disruption.

According to the reports, the automaker hopes to resume production next Tuesday, September 6. This means the Bowling Green factory in Kentucky will produce no C8 Corvettes from today through September 5. In turn, the GM industrial site in Mexico, which focuses on making GMC and Chevrolet-badged pickup trucks, should be able to return to normal operation on Monday, September 5.

The Chevy Corvette Z06 (see video) is also running the risk of breaking production schedule. According to unconfirmed insider reports posted on MidEngineCorvetteForum, only 10 percent of all 2023MY Corvettes will bear the Z06 badge, and only 3 percent will get the Z07 package. Then again, the manufacturer has yet to confirm or disprove these rumors.
