Hennessey Performance has released a video where it announced a work in progress to switch the Ram 1500 TRX and the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat to the monstrous seven-liter Mopar Hellephant engine.
In their stock form, both the SUV and the truck produce just barely over 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts). By replacing the standard 6.2-liter V8 with the abovementioned supercharged engine, both can instantly go to 1,000 HP (745 kW). However, a boost kit like that already exists in the Hennessey catalog, so the reason the company is making the swap is to lift the output to 1,200 or more horsepower (895 kW).
It should probably be mentioned that Mopar had originally designed its Hellephant mill for use in large-displacement car classics dating half a century back. However, its impressive characteristics prompted tuners all around the world to start putting it in modern vehicles as well.
