Twice-tuned Koenig Ferrari 512 BB crops up on sale

A unique 1978 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer rocking an extremely powerful twin-turbo engine built by Koenig Specials in Hannover, Germany almost half a century ago is up for grabs in Belgium right now for six digits.

Soon after getting the supercar, the owner sent it to Koenig for a widebody kit, Campagnolo-style wheels and new suspension. While he was at it, he decided that the stock 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW) wasn’t cutting it and also requested an engine tune.

Koenig responded by upgrading the intake, injection and exhaust of the naturally aspirated 12-cylinder mill, ending up with a cool 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW). It might not seem like much nowadays, but back in 1978, no mass-produced passenger vehicle in the entire world had that much power.

Eight years passed, and the owner felt it was time to go turbo. He sent the 512 BB back to the same aftermarket shop asking for twin Rajay turbos, forged engine components and a modern injection system instead of the carburetors. Once all was said and done, the coupe hit the road with 653 PS (644 hp / 480 kW), eclipsing Ferrari’s then-greatest Testarossa with its 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW).

The car is now on sale from Rock n Roll Classics with around 16,000 km (10,000 miles) under its belt. The asking price is €249,900.
