Ken Block reveals his Gymkhana 10 ride

Ken Block, a professional rally driver, has shown us the car he will take up for participation in the upcoming Gymkhana event in December.

The car in question is a 1977 Ford F-150. The reasoning behind the choice is simple: a similar car used to be piloted by his farther, a drift guru and a prizewinner of many rally tournaments.

The job took two years for the South Carolina-based Detroit Speed-Shop to complete. The car now features a tubular frame and an all-aluminum body, both designed and handcrafted by the tuner company itself.

The vehicle is powered by the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine found in the Ford GT series. The engineers have succeeded in boosting it to stellar 914 hp (682 kW) and 702 Nm (518 lb×ft) of torque. The car also utilizes AWD and a six-speed racing transmission.

Detroit Speed-Shop has also designed an all-new body kit for the 1977 Ford F-150, including both bumpers, two spoilers, fender flares etc.

The pickup truck has lost its cargo bed and much of the equipment in favor of maximum acceleration dynamics.

The F-150 restomod will celebrate its public debut on December 7, 2018.
