Ford reveals the specifications of its new 7.3-liter Super Duty V8

Ford announced a brand-new internal combustion engine for its Super Duty truck lineup a while ago, but has only now followed up with the details.

The petrol V8 engine has 7.3 liters of displacement and outputs 430 American horsepower (436 PS; 321 kW). The torque peaks at 644 Nm (475 lb-ft) as early as 4,000 RPM. Ford claims the torque curve is the best in class.

In fact, this is the higher out of the two available specs, which is obtainable for the F-250 and F-350 models. The other, entry-level spec dials the power down to 350 hp (355 PS; 261 kW) while keeping the torque nearly unchanged at 635 Nm (468 lb-ft).

Joel Beltramo, Manager at Ford, points out that the 7.3-liter engine was designed for maximum durability in the harshest conditions. It benefits from class-leading displacement volume and is cheap and easy to maintain, making it a reliable propulsion source for many years to come.
