Ford Maverick Hybrid makes 600 miles (965 km) on a full tank

Many people think the main virtue of the compact-sized Ford Maverick pickup is its starting price of $19,995. However, reports are coming in that its fuel economy and range may be no less impressive.

According to the EPA rating, the vehicle consumes 5.6 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers traveled in an urban environment (42 miles per gallon). With a mixed cycle in mind and a full 62-liter (16.4-gallon) tank, the Maverick Hybrid should be able to make around 800 kilometers (500 miles) – at least, in theory. In practice, however, one owner claims he was able to take it as far as 965 km (600 miles) before the tank ran dry.

The message was shared on the Maverick Truck Club forum online with many other forum participants supporting the claim and corroborating it with their own experiences.

Such important factors as driving style, traffic situation and routes were largely omitted from the discussion making the conclusions far from scientific. However, it is still good to know that the Maverick delivers plenty of range for a pickup – and perhaps even significantly more than the manufacturer claims.
