This 7-meter-long Batmobile replica is a bargain for what it is

A unique Batmobile based on a first-gen Ford Mustang chassis is available for sale in London with incomplete papers but in great overall condition. The seller expects it to fetch between £20,000 and £30,000.

So, what do you get for putting your money into this massive ride over, say, a hybrid compact made in Korea? Quite a lot, it would seem. There is a body that painstakingly recreates Batman’s transports of choice as seen in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns. Most of the parts are made of GFRP; Z Cars, which carried out the project, imported many of them to the UK from the United States.

Then there is a cabin with a retractable top, which has only two seats but more dash gauges than a private jet. Rounding things off is a 5.7-liter V8 under the hood capable of 385 PS (380 hp / 283 kW).

The auction will be held on March 20, 2021. According to reports, the original owner of the car had intended to rent it for events and ad campaigns, but encountered financial difficulties when the project costs inflated from the estimated £70,000 to about £150,000.
