Shelby American has produced Core Red Mustangs before, but this is the first time the extreme muscle car gets a whole production run. Limited to just 10 units, the conversion will cost drivers at least $209,995, donor vehicle not included.
In addition to the company’s signature visual upgrades, the new Code Red comes equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V8 and a high-end fuel system. Numerous modifications enable the engine to produce 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 746 kW) and 1,058 Nm (780 lb-ft) of torque burning regular ON93 gas. Pour in E85 instead, and you will get 1,317 PS (1,300 hp / 969 kW) and 1,356 Nm (1,000 lb-ft).
Elsewhere, the tuner’s most hardcore Code Red muscle car to date boasts a widebody kit, carbon-fiber trim pieces all around, new wheels and tires, tweaked suspension and an upgraded interior.
There are reasons why Shelby never went along with the idea of mass-producing the car. Back in 2008, it announced a similarly ambitious project but failed to find enough customers willing to pay the full price, so only one example was made in the end.
