Autobacs-tuned Honda Civic costs 3x its normal price

Japanese tuning company Autobacs has come to the recently concluded Tokyo Auto Salon with a high-end racing upgrade package for the Honda Civic Type R. Whereas the hot hatchback is obtainable in Japan starting from the equivalent of U.S. $40,000, the aftermarket stuff throws $85,000 on top of that.

The package is as bold as they come, lending the car a unique and instantly recognizable look. There is a redesigned front bumper, generously flared fenders, a rear diffuser, a rear wing and lots of smaller components. Stock brakes make room for superior AP Racing ones, and both the drivetrain and the suspension get overhauled with track days in mind. Details are pending, so we still don’t know what exactly is planned.

What we already know is that customers will be able to request a full interior overhaul with carbon-backed seats, racing safety harnesses and a racecar-style steering yoke with lots of buttons on it. Artificial suede and carbon fiber are the main trim components here.

The package is known as the Arta GT and is coming to the market limited to just 20 units.
