2026 Hyundai Tucson goes for an all-new exterior

If these spy pics posted on Korean Car Blog are any indication, Hyundai is busy developing the next Tucson generation. It looks drastically different from the current version (see video) and reportedly has a brand-new interior, too.

The photos were snapped near the Hyundai technical HQ in Germany. The car wore fake panels in addition to the regular camo, but you can still see that the body was redesigned from the ground up. It looks much boxier now and somewhat resembles the latest Santa Fe crossover, but with shorter overhangs, smaller overall dimensions and a slightly sportier profile.

On the infotainment side of things, rumors claim the new Tucson comes with an all-mew multimedia system running on Hyundai’s own operating system known as Pleos. It benefits from new displays, supports app installations and provides connection to a plethora of online services.

The same sources claim that the new infotainment system has an AI-powered virtual assistant. As for driving assists, we expect a Level 2.5 ADAS package to be available.

Powertrains likely won’t change much, which in case of the Tucson means hybrids, hybrids and more hybrids. They all use a petrol engine at the core and max out at roughly 100 kilometers (62 miles) in all-electric mode.

As to when to expect the new Tucson to be out, Korean Car Blog believes that the third quarter – which has just begun, actually – is a realistic timeframe. We heard from other sources that it could be a model year 2027 car, or even MY2028. In other words, much remains to be clarified by Hyundai.
